The Hyperborean End

And so, Doom came to what we know as the Hyborian age, in cataclysms manmade, sent forth by cosmic forces beyond all ken and the machinations of dark gods. In Hyperborea, the demise was long in the making and brutally finite, in both measure and consequence. In an ill-conceived attempt of the ruling hyperboreans to engage in a show of force, and to “cleanse the savage blood”, as it were, from vast resource abundant territories that the ruling hyperboreans have had their eyes upon for centuries. Now within reach.

And thus began a wasteful and expensive series of campaigns and outright purges, that forced many of the indigenous peoples of the kingdom into a prolonged exile. Scapegoated, ravaged, and driven from their ancestral homeland.
For many of them, this will be a slow march into oblivion.

However, This event, this one grim, event will backfire so horrendously for the Hyperboreans that a direct line of events can be traced back from history into legend, spelling the doom of this once great kingdom. One of the smaller tribes in this region, set upon and persecuted by the hyperboreans migrating from the northwest, is an ill-tempered band of survival oriented individuals who will carry a prolonged grudge far into the future.

Generations from now, for a time, their descendants, armored in the bones of the great black bear, will rule this land, and exact their revenge on the people of Hyperborea. They too will pass into legend, and from legend into ancient history and there be known as The Kurgans.
