I recently saw a debate on the subject of whether Cimmeria has a desert; Allow me to clarify; The Drylands, A narrow region in South Eastern Cimmeria is desiccated and arid when compared to the rest of the Nation.
While the area itself is not very large, it could be called a small regional desert due to the climate and overall lack of sustainable resources within the area.
That said, a person could clear the entirety of it on foot in about 2 full days, While traveling with water is most important on any trip, on average this strip of tundra-like desert does not kill as many with the typical heat and oppressive sun of the worlds larger “proper” deserts.-More typically, individuals find themselves getting lost in the rocky outcroppings and greyish brown canyons.-Should you find yourself in this predicament, remember that the mountains lie to the west, as do a ridge of several small settlements. A Cimmerian fisherman of the aquilonian lowlands told me this of the area he grew up in near the basin, and it served me well in late autumn.
From my understanding, this region exists by way of a smaller glacier, that cut through this region shortly before the cataclysm, which destroyed the glacier and displaced the water carried there, most of which flooded down-land into the central aquilonian rivers .The sharp change in elevation will lead straight up into the more familiar snow country of Cimmeria, land of darkness and deep night.
